You see for the last few years Ive let MMORPGs consume my life. MMO’s are very addictive in their very nature and honestly Im tired of spending the time that I did in them. You see over the past few years Ive spent over 4,000 hours in MMO’s and about 3,000 of that was in World of Warcraft. Well over the past few weeks Ive taken a step back and looked at whats important in my life and re prioritized everything and well MMO’s had to go. It also helped that for the time being Im bored with the MMO’s that are currently out there. Ive played way to much World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online is to much like WoW for my tastes. Eve I have to many people thelling what I should be doing that it feels like work.
But I’m still a gamer so I had to figure out how I wanted to dedicate the few hours that I would get to play. So I took the money that I was throwing to MMO accounts and got a Gamefly account. Gamefly is like Netflicks but for games. My first game shipped yesterday (Halo 3) and I should have it by tomorrow/early next week. With this Ive also decided that Im going to start writing video game reviews. Since Ill have a large library of video games at my finger tips I wont have to buy them all and I can play though them in my free time. Also my friend Matt is letting me barrow his PS2 along with a few games and a spare memory card so I can play though some PS2 games IE God of War, and maybe every so often I can talk Jody into letting me get a new PC game to play though as well.
Im not sure how long my freedom from MMO’s is going to last with Age of Conan and Warhammer Online coming out, but for the time being I’m currently 3 weeks clean and counting.
