Tuesday I did something pretty cool. I hung my guitar on the wall. This makes life a little easier for me in multiple ways. One I am no longer carrying a 35 to 40 pound instrument up and down the stairs of our house, Secondly I no longer have to go up stairs for my guitar when I want to practice. I hung it pretty much two feet away from my computer desk and its about 3 to 4 feet above my amp so it resides right with in my practice area for my guitar. The other benefit of this is the guitar is now up off the floor, as I was previously storing it in a gig bag under my bed and it no longer sit leaning against the printer / amp stand directly on the floor where the girls can take an interest in it.
The mount itself is fairly strait forward it consists of a back plate and a yoke for the head stock of the guitar to rest in. Mounting it to the wall was easy as well for I didn’t even need to find a stud for the kit came with wall anchors so all Ill need to do is patch the hole up with spackle for when we move out. I already need to spackle two holes up form my first attempt at hanging out TV so I need to go on and get some anyway.
Now the big reason I wanted a mount for my guitar is that it makes it far more accessible for when I want to practice with it. Instead of going to another room I just pick it up off of the wall. I love it and my guitar just looks plain awesome on the wall.
Here is a song that I have been working on this weekend. Its the first 5 or 6 bars of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. So far the hammer ons and slides have me frustrated buy Jody says Im getting better so I figured what the hell Ill finally post something here. I have even left the part Im not so good at yet and my goof up at the beginning as well.
Well one of the things that I would like to do this year is attempt to do better at writing posts for this blog. Amazingly (Or maybe not so) I write a large percentage of my posts from work and post them either A when I get home or B when there isn’t so many people around. One of the nice things about writing my posts at work is it lets me look incredibly busy even if I’m just hacking away at an email like I currently am today (Friday) after lunch. I changed the theme of this blog so it looks more “Quest Log” like. It’s not that I didn’t like the theme that Jody posted up here it’s just I wanted something that fit more into the theme that I had originally wanted when I started doing this blog just over a year ago.
Anyway we just got back from Canada this week. It was an ok trip I got to play a lot of video games and hang out with Jody’s Family and my girls. When at her Uncles house I downloaded the World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King 10 day free trial and started to play that. The day I got it I realized that I couldn’t level my hunter past 1 xp point away from 71 so I started to level a Death Knight.
Death Knights are pretty cool. They remind me heavily of paladins without direct healing spells. But they totally chew though content like crazy. The other nice thing about them is that you start at level 55 and at the end of the Death Knight Starter Area you have an epic mount a full set of blue armor weapons and all the talent points up to the 58~ish level. One thing that I have noticed since returning to WoW is that gold seems to be extremely easy to come by at this point. My death knight has just over 900g and my Dwarf Hunter has just over 800g on them. The Death Knight started with 0g and my dwarf started with just above 75g. Still that’s a lot of gold to be made in just over a week now. As well my Death Knight is sitting at 66 and my dwarf is sitting at 72~73.
The other thing is at least on my account we won’t be paying for it for a while as we have a World of Warcraft rewards card that had enough points on it to give me at least 2 months of free game time. As well I cast a scroll of resurrection on my wife’s account and I’ll get another 30 days of free game play from there as well. SO in all it’ll be about May ~ Juneish when we actually have to pay for my account. To help pay for this I have agreed to cancel my Gamefly account for a while as there isn’t a lot of games out that I really want to ply on my 360.
I have played most of the major releases for this holiday season and frankly I wasn’t really all that impressed with most of them. The best two games that I played was Gears of War and Fable 2. I loved both of those games but really the rest just seem to be rehashes. Midnight Club was fun but honestly how many times do we have to do illegal street racing in a video game? Likewise how many times are we going to visit World War 2? I know it was a popular war for the self sacrifice in the war but common it’s a little played out at this point we really need to find something new to do as I feel the whole world war 2 shooter is getting massively played out.
Haronix bought country music to Rock Band this past month I bought the country pack for the game just haven’t played it yet as I was unable to take any of my RB2 instruments with me to Canada. Hell if I did bring them more than likely Air Canada would have lost them anyway.
That sucked by the way when Jody, The Girls and myself arrived at Victoria we found out that Air Canada had lost our luggage. Probably because of the fact that we only had about an hour and half layover in Vancouver before our flight for Victoria left. Did I mention that our winter coats was packed away in our luggage? Along with my 360? Yeah it sucked big time luckily Jody had her sweater and her Uncle brought some stuff for the girls like blankets and such but me I had only the jeans t-shirt and combat books that I wore up there. So yeah it was pretty cold up there. Thankfully Air Canada got our bags to us the next day but still.
Once again though I have gone with another trip to Canada with only seeing her Grandma’s Place and her Aunt and Uncles place. Now I know I’m a pretty simple guy and that for the most part I’m content to spend time playing video games and not really heading out. Just every so often I would have liked to go out and see stuff but with no car that could haul everyone I fell that I was forced to stay in one place the majority of the time.
I got to sport a goatee for about 3 weeks which was nice as I think I look pretty good with a goatee vs clean shaven. But hey rules are rules so the night before I had to come back to work I shaved it off and I sit here once again clean shaven. But I know that Jody has a few pictures of me running around of it so I’ll see about posting them up here.
About 2 weeks ago a friend of mine let me barrow his Warhammer Online account while he was out of town to try out. Needless to say I didnt make it though the entire weekend before I had my own account. I like this game alot as it allows me to PvP and level. I do have a few complaints about the game but I’m hoping those are fixed before to long. For the most part though its a really fun game and I have been enjoying it a lot. Expecally in the evenings when I play with Jody.
THis weekend we though a small get together with a friend of mine form work. He ended up surfing far to long so when he got here I threw burgers on the grill to start them cooking and then he distracted me and I ended up burning them solid. The brawts that he brought though ended up great so it was all good. He invited us to a party that he and his girl friend was going to on saturday night. But since it was a bunch of surfers and he would of been the only one I knew there it would have been a bit awkward for me so I stayed at home with Jody and the kids.
Well Jody wanted me to give her a Christmas list so here it is:
- Guitar Stuff
- Wall Hanger
- Effects pedal (so I dont have to crank my amp so hard to get distrotion for Rock and Roll)
- Computer Stuff
- G15 Keyboard
- Creative Labs Sounds Blaster X-FI
- G51 Speakers
- Fable 2
- Gears of War 2
- Call of Duty World at War
- Microsoft Points (You can buy cards really easily at Walmart)
This year everything is under 100 bucks exect for the sound card and speakers and Guitar lessons.
Well there has bee a few things happen in my life since I last updated this. I have finaly finished ALS (Airman Leadership School). Thank God for that as well, for I hate classes and I really hate PME(Professional Miltary Education) Classes. Yes they are about as boring as they sound. Over all though it wasnt a bad course just I dont beleive people when they say they are going to miss it as I for one am not. I think thats because my flight never really came together as a whole. Oh we did a few things together but not a lot. Just getting people to proof read my written papers was like pulling teath. But its ok now the few people that did help me Im thankfull for. Least the stress of all the assignments and test are gone and I extreemly happy about that. I was starting to have problems sleeping at night becaues of it but this morning I aced my last test with a 92.5. Im not sure what my final grade for the course is though it should be in the low to mid 80s though. I really disliked the speaches and drill. For some reason I hate drill yes i know its just walking around in formation I just never can seem to do it well. Least I dont think I do it to well but I passed that portion of the course last Friday. For anyone about to go to ALS my advice is to read all the material and get stuff done ahead of time.
As for games Im still playing Spore off and on and I’ve picked back up Rockband. Im accually considering picking up Rockband 2 as it has alot of songs I would love to hear and play in that setting. There are a few other games thats comming out along the way that Im geting excited about but really for the most part I have chilled. I spent quite a bit of time this evening chasing around our oldest foster kid and had a blast. I dread the days when shell no longer really have fun around me as shell be all growded up.
RA Salvatore releases his new book tomarrow and I want to read it badly. There are a few books out there that I want to read but just dont seem to have the funds for. Its all good though im sure Ill get around to geting them eventually.
We bought Jody a minivan about a week ago and currently it seems we are planning a trip to Canadaland for Christmas to visit her family. Im accually looking forward it as I need time away from here.
