Welcome to The Laslink!

My husband & I originally created this site specifically with close family and friends in mind so they could feel a link to our lives wherever we might be.
After nearly 3 years of keeping this blog private to members only, for various reasons, I’ve decided to revamp things a bit & make the site public.
For those of you who don’t already know me. I am a 30 year old proud military wife & mother of 3, all through the blessing of adoption. I am also Canadian, born & raised (in beautiful British Columbia!) but am currently a permanent resident of the good ol’ US of A. I love both of these beautiful countries equally.
My husband Roy & I were married May 26th of 2004. After 3 years of infertility we began our adoption journey in 2007 through the process of fostering while we were stationed in California.
For our daughter Brooklynn, it was a fairly short (15 month) journey to the finalization of her adoption but for our daughter Alanna, it was the wildest roller coaster we’d ever been on, which lasted just over 3 years… her adoption was finally finalized on May 3rd, 2010!
Because foster parenting & adoption have played such a huge role in our married life it is something I have frequently blogged about. Our adoption journey via foster care in the State of California fills up a large portion of the archives. A more recent topic is the private, semi open, domestic adoption of our little man, Michael.
Some other topics I discuss is my weight loss from a decision to undergo Roux-N-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery back in October 2009. I also like to include some favorite recipes on my “Favorite Food Friday” posts. Then there’s our infertility struggles, my challenges with Fibromyalgia & chronic pain, as well as our military & general family life. Occasionally my husband Roy even adds his own posts here which is a special little treat from time to time. Overall our posts cover the comings & goings of our days as experienced by “The Laslink”.
We’re not the best writers out there by any means but we enjoy it non the less & hope that you will too whether it be because you share similar experiences, journeys, interests or just because our lives are of curiosity to you. It’s certainly a pleasure to have you here & we hope you will return often!
